Temple, Planetarium, and Fun

Today we got up and got in our church clothes so we could go and do a live session at the Salt Lake temple and Britt was going to do baptisms for the dead. We figured it was exactly four months to the day that Sky had taken out his endowments at this temple. We were running a little late and then we hit some construction up by the temple. We were trying to hit a 12:00 session but the closer we got to the temple the less time we had ready to go to that session. Then Sheldon suggested we go and eat at the temple cafeteria first. We all thought that sounded like a good idea. As we were going to the parking area we saw a sign that said "Temple Closed". We couldn't believe it. The temple in Logan had been closed for the whole month of July and so was the Ogden one for renovating and they were just putting on the Angel Moroni at the Brigham temple which will probably still take a little while to get open. We never dreamt that the Salt Lake one would be closed too. Mom had the temple number on her phone so she called and they were closed til July 18th.

Sky was so disappointed. He really wanted to go back and do a live session before he went into the MTC. The only thing we could do was go to the Visitors Center and see the statue of the Christus. We walked around and saw many interesting things in this building.

This replica had lots of little towns and houses showing some of the different places that Jesus had been and the events that happened in his life.

This statue is so neat. If you look close enough you can see the holes where the nails were driven in his hands and wrists.

Surrounded in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ

I know that Skyler will be watched over and protected as he serves his mission. I will always think of this picture during those two years.

Then we went downstairs and we had never seen any of these displays before.

The Prophet, Thomas S. Monson and his Counselors and Apostles

After touring the visitors center, we went back and changed our clothes at our hotel and then went to eat at the Golden Coral. Then we went to the Science Planetarium.

Bryce and I checking out the telescopes. I think if Bryce would have had a place to sleep he would have stayed there for days.

This display was certainly for Dad. Home sweet home!

When we got done we went back to the hotel to swim some more. Mom decided to just take some pictures this time instead of swim.
