For our graduation, 1 year anniversary, and last vacation before we are poor medical students, Bryce and I decided to go on a cruise to the Bahamas the week after we graduated. It was so warm, and we had a blast spending time together without worrying about work or school. I love spending time with my husband, and I am so lucky to be able to be with him for eternity.

Goodbye Miami, Hello Bahamas
The first day we visited the Grand Bahama Island, AKA Freeport. We really wanted to get a picture of us with the fountain behind us, but we realized a little too late that the lady we asked to take the picture was speaking German, so we got a picture of us with the beautiful flowers and a little bit of the fountain.
We thought this would be such a cool picture. We asked the closest lady to us if she would mind taking a picture for us. Afterward, we found out that she was working at the discount store and she said that the picture would cost us one tour. Haha. It must have been worth it because we bought a paddle boat tour for an hour that afternoon.
We didn't have time to swim with the dolphins, but the statue was still really neat.

The paddle boat was so fun. Our legs were pretty tired after an hour, but it was definitely worth it.

One of the most interesting, intriguing things about the Bahamas was the fact that everyone drives on the left hand side of the road. The first time we rode in the van it kinda freaked me out, but I must have gotten used to it because when we got back to Miami I thought it was weird that people were driving on the right hand side.
Our favorite thing about cruises is the food! All you can eat all the time. On the Norwegian cruise line it is free-style which means you don't have a set time or place to eat for dinner. The second night we decided to try the restaurant instead of the buffet. The steaks were amazing and I could definitely get used to having dessert after every meal. My ice cream was delicious, but we were a little wary of Bryce's dessert. It said that it was wine reduction (or something like that) so we asked the waiter if we could get the dessert without the wine part. We ended up with a cake with no toppings or anything. It was pretty funny, but it still tasted delicious.
Wednesday we visited the Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian's private island. We loved all the little shops, but it was really hard once you stepped inside to get out without buying something. We really liked this island because people would let you look at their shops without pressuring you to buy something.
By the time we had taken our pictures and played in the sand, most of the beach chairs had been taken. My amazing husband found this hammock which we thought would suffice. We read our books and relaxed for a little while and then decided to enjoy the water.
They had this huge Hippo Slide set up for not only children, but adults also. It was so fun and I think Bryce had a blast!
The buffet was full of many different kinds of yummy food. They had everything from Italian, to Chinese, to American food. It was all delicious!!!
The entertainment on the Norwegian cruise was awesome!!! Probably the best so far. Bryce decided to volunteer to play in the Jeopardy Night. He did a really good job, but in order to win he needed to be about 30 years older. They asked so many questions about movies and things that happened in the 1970s. Bryce wasn't even thought of then!

The last place we went was to Nassau. At first it looked like it might be a stormy day, but the clouds dispersed and it was a beautiful, warm day. We loved the weather in the Bahamas. Not too hot, and not too cold.
This man was nice enough to take our picture by the frog, stand in a picture with me, and let Bryce play his drum. Afterward he looked at Bryce and said "I take tips!" Haha. Everyone loves their tips!

There was an odd number of people wanting to parasail, which we didn't think anything of, but it prevented Bryce and I from going alone. The men in charge said that we were too light to go just the two of us so another person had to go with us. We were okay with that, but then when they put her in between us we were a little disappointed. It was still a blast, but this was the first time in my life I wished that I weighed more than I do. I will definitely make sure to eat more at the buffet the next time we decide to do this!!!!

After our parasailing adventure, we decided to take a glass bottom boat tour to see the island and the things that live there (in the water of course).
The tour guides loved to show us all the beautiful houses and tell us stories about them and who lives in them. I can't remember all the stories or people, but the places were amazing!
Halfway through the tour they stopped and let those who wanted to get in the water to snorkel do that for a little while. The rest of us were able to look through the boat as they fed all the fish. I have never seen so many fish in one place before. Our tour guide loved to go underneath the boat and wave to us. That would freak me out, but it was a neat experience. One of the "perks" of the tour was free drinks. We told the man that that wouldn't sell us because we don't drink. We had an excellent seat to view the fish, but unfortunately we were in the middle and had to pass all the drinks around to everyone else. We probably looked really strange being the youngest people on the boat and not drinking, but it was a great opportunity for Bryce and I to stick to our standards and I hope that we were able to set an example.
I put my camera away too fast. After we left the snorkeling place, we saw a shipwreck, a stingray, and a shark. It was so cool, but the tour guide kept driving in circles to see the shark again and again. After I saw it once that was enough for me, I was ready to be back on land safe and sound :)
